You know who convinced me to run for office? Not only Kamala Harris, but the biggest enemy on the face of the earth — Donald J. Trump. My hatred for Donald Trump is what convinced me to run for office, in order to ensure that we never have a corrupt President ever again. Donald Trump has abused his power, misused the powers of his office, he’s a pathological liar, and he’s an arrogant man with a terrible ego. I was following the 2016 presidential election on CNN and in the midst of Hillary Clinton losing it was a total heartbreaking experience, my dreams of a first woman President was ruined. After watching the election that night, I was sitting in the living room at the time thinking — what can I do to ensure that things like this never happen again, and I’d thought to myself, “Well, LaDarion maybe pursue a goal in politics like Congress to actually bring fundamental changes to our nation.

Now four years later, it’s almost election season coming November 3rd and we’re at a moment of political war, we have Vice President Biden running against President Trump. Although my views have changed and expanded I still have that same goal, of bringing change upon our country and running for public office in the United States Congress. Politics has introduce me to many people that I would’ve never met — such as meeting Democratic officials from the State of Texas — and even receiving my short-term internship with the Collin County Democratic Party and things of that nature. You should want to invest time in things that you care about, it can be politics, it can even be sports or even a musical career, you can accomplish anything if you simply put your mind to it. Politics is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn from others’ perspective and views! I learned that from my hero, Kamala Harris — she taught me how to learn from people and be a better person, including learning how to respect another person and their views.

Before I end this message to my fellow Americans, I would like to use a quote from Hillary Clinton saying, “Never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance — in the world to pursue your dreams.”
